With your support, we can continue to preserve Dundee’s outstanding industrial and maritime heritage for future generations and tell the inspiring stories of polar exploration, Antarctic science, textiles and our city’s social history to the world.

It costs around £2 million each year to run RRS Discovery and the Discovery Point and Verdant Works museums, and just 1.3% of this is publicly funded.

You can therefore make a transformational difference to our work by making a gift to Dundee Industrial Heritage.

Your generosity makes it possible to care for our internationally significant collections and to deliver an award-winning education and learning programme to engage our communities.

However you choose to support us, you will know that your gift, of whatever size, is valued and ensures that our two fascinating and important collections will be preserved, shared and enjoyed by all.

We will be in touch to thank you for your gift and offer the option of a further personalised thank you for being sent to a chosen recipient/s (if applicable), either on a certain date or within two working days of your gift. Our Giving Promise

We will always direct donations to the area of greatest need unless otherwise agreed in advance of your donation, and by allowing us to do this, you will be empowering our small team of experts, educators, and ambassadors to respond most effectively to the changing needs of our museums and communities.

However, if you have a particular reason for wishing to dedicate your donation to a specific area of our work, please contact our Development Manager, Catriona Yates, at catriona.yates@dundeeheritage.co.uk or call us on 01382 309060 and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Whatever and in whichever way you choose to give, thank you for your support.

It makes a world of difference to us.

Hold a collection

If you have very recently lost a loved one, you may be considering asking friends and family to donate to charity in lieu of flowers at a funeral or memorial. This can be a very personal and positive way of remembering someone and celebrating their life, so if you are considering us – thank you.

Whether this is due to a passion for heritage, a family history in the dockyards and mills, a penchant for polar exploration, or simply a love of our bonnie Dundee, you can be assured that your collection will help us protect and share all of these things at our much-loved museums now and in the future. Ask your funeral directors if you would like help arranging a collection. Most should be able to handle this for you and send any donations to us directly. Our charity information is available here.

If you would prefer to organise the collection yourself, you can request special envelopes for this purpose by emailing our Development Manager, Catriona Yates, at catriona.yates@dundeeheritage.co.uk or call us on 01382 309060.

Alternatively, you may wish to consider creating a tribute fund online.

Our Giving Promise

We will always direct donations to the area of greatest need unless otherwise agreed in advance of your gift, empowering our small team of guardians, interpreters, and ambassadors of Dundee’s heritage to respond effectively to the changing needs of our museums and communities.

However, if you have a particular reason for wishing to dedicate your collection to a specific area of our work, please contact our Development Manager, Catriona Yates, at catriona.yates@dundeeheritage.co.uk or call us on 01382 309060 to discuss your preferences. We will do our best to accommodate you.

Whatever and however you choose to give, thank you for your support.

It makes a world of difference to us.

Did You Know You Can Leave Us a Gift in Your Will?

As a charity, one of the most effective and tax-efficient ways for you to support our work is to leave a gift to Dundee Heritage Trust in your will.

Did you know that you can leave us 1% of your estate and the remaining 99% to your family and friends?

With your legacy gift, we can ensure that Dundee’s history is preserved for future generations to enjoy.

Our preference is for your gift to be used where the need is greatest, depending on our priorities; however, if you have specific wishes, please let your solicitor know.

Discovery Point Transformed

A new centre for Antarctic heritage, environment and learning.

Dundee Heritage Trust needs your support for an exciting new initiative that will reimagine the Discovery Point Antarctic museum and secure the future of the historic RRS Discovery.

Our goal with this ambitious project is to transform Discovery Point into a world-class centre for Antarctic heritage and science, connecting the pioneering history of the Royal Research Ship Discovery with contemporary global issues such as climate change, the ocean environment and current Antarctic research.

Keeping the historic RRS Discovery centre stage, the project will exploit more fully Discovery Point’s unique waterfront location, tell compelling stories using our rich collections and deliver a comprehensive learning and engagement programme for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Supporting Discovery Point Transformed

With your help, we can transform Discovery Point into a world-class Antarctic heritage and environment centre that will inspire new audiences and create a dramatic destination for local, national and international visitors.
