Nursery & Primary Schools
We can adapt our Primary workshops and tours for nursery groups, but most prefer a self-led visit.
Workshops for Young Learners
Workshops
Life as a Polar Explorer
Compare how Polar Exploration has advanced since 1901 by investigating how ships, geographical knowledge, clothing, food and housing have changed today, as well as touching on the environmental and psychological effects of Antarctic Exploration.
This workshop is great for groups studying the Poles, Antarctica, Climate Change, individuals (such as Scott, Shackleton or modern explorers), materials and their properties, or wanting a fun dress-up opportunity!
Dundee to The Future
Using our Dome film, students will investigate the changes in society that have occurred since 1901 in work, leisure and transport. Students will then create what they think the future might look like.
This workshop works well for groups studying Dundee, Victorians, Climate Change, or design.
Victorian Objects
Students get to look, touch, and smell common objects and clothing from the Victorian era whilst learning about what every day would have been like for the rich and poor in the age of the Industrial Revolution.
This workshop is great for groups studying Victorian lives, the Industrial Revolution, Dundee or who want to have fun immersing themselves in a historical setting.
Motion in The Mill
Students will investigate the various forces that make the millwork, as well as sources of energy over time – from water to electricity.
This workshop is suitable for groups studying forces or the Industrial Revolution.
Weaving
Investigate our looms and then spend some time learning the art of weaving.
This works well for groups studying art or who prefer alternative, hands-on ways of learning.
