Join us on Saturday 21st March 2026 to mark 125 years since Discovery was launched here in Dundee, and sent on a pioneering Antarctic voyage that would go on to receive recognition around the globe as a pivotal moment in the history of exploration and science.

Explore Discovery Point & RRS Discovery
10am-5pm (RRS Discovery closes at 2:30pm)
Take a voyage of wonder through 10+ interactive galleries in Discovery Point and travel to 1901 Dundee in the Discovery Dome, before hopping aboard RRS Discovery in the footsteps of Captain Scott and his crew, diving in to the story of this remarkable ship built in Dundee.
125 Discovery Mast Climb with Captain's Toast
10:30am or 12:30pm
Saturday 21st March 2026 only
Take to the rigging in the footsteps of Discovery‘s crew 125 years ago for an unparalleled adventure. Climb 80+ feet high, scale the yard arm, and zip-line back to the quayside before enjoying a very special Captain’s Toast in the Wardroom of Discovery; led by Ali Gellatly, Ship’s Director at Dundee Heritage Trust, and Stewart McKay, Captain of RRS Discovery (2012).

Unseen Discoveries Exhibition
Opens 21st March 2026 until March 2027
Get a glimpse of lesser-seen artefacts from Discovery‘s 1901-1904 Antarctic Expedition, bringing stories from the ship’s crew to the surface. See hand-written diaries, scrapbooks, toolboxes and other personal items relating to the ship’s hardy crew.

Music and speeches will fill the air as we commemorate the exact moment that Discovery was launched only metres away 125 years ago and sent on her maiden voyage to the frozen South. Join us to enjoy celebratory music, hear touching speeches, and grab a slice of birthday cake!
