The Making Connections exhibition by the Seven Sisters Handweavers at Verdant Works Museum in Dundee uses hand-weaving to explore our kinships to community and the natural world, and the migrations of patterns, materials and cloth through handwoven works.

Seven Sisters Handweavers is a network of handweavers who are all graduates of the Diploma in Handweaving at the Handweavers Studio and Gallery, London. The group formed in 2022 and currently represent four cohorts of graduates from 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2024.

Working primarily as a group to support each others’ growth as handweavers, the handweavers organise workshops and meetings in creative spaces and seek to share their weaving expertise within local communities. Their individual work represents the diversity and creative breadth of contemporary handweaving, from art weaving and wall hangings to designing and making functional woven works, including furnishing fabrics, apparel such as scarves and clothing, and accessories created from woven fabrics.

The Seven Sisters Handweavers weave in a range of materials including wool, cotton, silk and linen.
