To celebrate 125 years since Discovery was launched in Dundee and sent on the pioneering British National Antarctic Expedition under the command of Robert Falcon Scott, a new mini exhibition will bring Unseen Discoveries out from within Dundee Heritage Trust’s Recognised Collections, offering glimpses at lesser-seen artefacts relating to the voyage, including: a hand-drawn map of the winter quarters by David Allen, a Petty Officer on the 1901 expedition; the toolbox of Frank Plumley, a stoker on the voyage; a scrapbook from Hartley Ferrar, geologist aboard the expedition; and the handwritten diary of Thomas Whitfield, also a stoker on the voyage. On display in the Discovery Point foyer from 21 March 2026–March 2027, the exhibition introduces new stories from the ship’s first historic expedition.
