Open Call: Family Jute Histories in Dundee
Week beginning 13th October
—
Did your mother, grandmother, or another relative work in Dundee’s jute mills between 1900 and 1960? Artist and PhD researcher Fiona Roberts is inviting people with family connections to these factories to take part in a project which explores Dundee’s history through art and conversation.
Her work pays tribute to the women working in the jute industry. You’re warmly invited to view the exhibition at Verdant Works Museum and take part in a group discussion or a one-on-one conversation to share your own family story.
This is a work-in-progress exhibition, and your input will help shape Fiona’s evolving research project—making your contribution truly invaluable.
These sessions will take place during the week beginning 13th October 2025.
We’d love for you to be involved. If you’re interested, please get in touch with Fiona by email at fiona.roberts@student.norwichuni.ac.uk. Your memories and insights could make a powerful contribution to preserving Dundee’s industrial heritage.
