It costs around £1 million each year to run Discovery Point and Verdant Works museums, and Dundee Heritage Trust receives just 5% of this from public funding. We are therefore very grateful for the support of organisations and individuals whose generosity makes it possible for us to care for our collections, provide an award-winning learning programme and engage people of all ages and backgrounds with Dundee’s inspiring story.

However you choose to support us, your valued contribution will allow us to continue with our aim of preserving and interpreting Dundee’s heritage for future generations.

Leave a Legacy

One of the most effective and personal ways to make a lasting impact on the Trust’s work is to remember our charity in your will.

Legacies can be designated to a particular aspect of our work, such as education, supporting conservation projects, or upgrading our galleries or they can be left to the discretion of the Trust.

Whichever you choose, your generosity and passion for Dundee Heritage Trust will ensure our continued success.

Fundraising Appeals and Events

We often run targeted appeals for specific projects at both museums; by donating to these, our supporters have a lasting impact on the ongoing work of the Trust. For example, in 2016 we successfully raised over £40,000 towards the RRS Discovery Rigging Conservation project through our first crowdfunding appeal.  We also hold regular fundraising events to support the Trust’s activities.

2018 Jubilee Patron Appeal

The Discovery Point Antarctic museum with its purpose-built dock for RRS Discovery was opened by the Duke of Edinburgh on July 1st 1993. This year, to commemorate the centre’s 25th anniversary, Dundee Heritage Trust invites you to join us as a Jubilee Patron. As a Patron you will not only enjoy a year’s free admission to both Discovery Point / RRS Discovery and Verdant Works, you will also be supporting the Trust in preserving and interpreting Captain Scott’s unique polar research ship for another 25 years – and beyond!

It costs just £25 to become a Jubilee Patron, and in addition to your annual pass to Discovery Point and Verdant Works you will also receive invitations to special events held during our 25th anniversary year.
