The Friends of Dundee Heritage Trust

The Friends of Dundee Heritage Trust was founded in 1987 with the roots of its membership in volunteering. By the mid-1980s there were already many volunteers caring for and interpreting the RRS Discovery. The Friends built an archive and took on public-facing roles such as catering, assisting at events and fundraising.

When many duties were undertaken by paid staff, the Friends – as volunteers – continued with guiding and fundraising. In the transformation of Verdant Works to a museum, many Friends helped clear the site, as well as staying on as guides, demonstrators and fundraisers.

Nowadays, the Friends membership includes people from across Scotland, the UK and abroad, as well as a keen band of DHT volunteers at its core.

Join us as a Friend today – and be part of preserving Dundee’s Heritage!

Dundee Heritage Trust has a Friends organisation of over one hundred enthusiastic members who support the work of the Trust.
