Workshops
Antarctic Explorers
Looking beyond Scott and Shackleton at the other early explorers of the Antarctic using historical enquiry methods.
This workshop is suitable for groups studying history and wanting a practical introduction to historical enquiry or on how to look for ‘hidden histories’ and how historians work to uncover the stories of marginalised people.
Why Dundee?
Using our new Dome film, students will investigate – using research methods – and identify why Dundee was chosen as the place to launch the Discovery.
This workshop is great for groups studying history and wanting a practical introduction to historical enquiry and/or who are doing a localised study on Dundee and the industrial revolution.
Victorian Objects
Students get to look, touch, and smell common objects and clothing from the Victorian era whilst learning about what every day would have been like for the rich and poor in the age of the Industrial Revolution.
This workshop works well for groups studying Victorian lives, the Industrial revolution, Dundee or who want to have fun immersing themselves in a historic setting.
Weaving
Investigate our looms and then spend some time learning the art of weaving.
This works well for groups studying art or who prefer alternative, hands-on ways of learning.
The Sun Never Sets – Dundee's links to the British Empire at Verdant Works Museum
Investigating Dundee’s links to the British Empire – using The Highlands, Ireland, America and India as subjects – and the constraints museums face as part of the discussion.
This workshop is suitable for groups studying travel, tourism, politics, or history.
