Our Mission
We are Dundee Heritage Trust
The proud guardian of two of Scotland’s best-loved museums.
Together, we spark curiosity in heritage, science, and discovery for 80,000 people each year.
Our museums have inspired of millions of people around the globe since the Royal Research Ship Discovery returned to Dundee. Built in our city, she belongs to the world. An anchor for generations of scientists. A beacon for explorers, young and old. A compass for the curious everywhere.
Now, we’re on a mission to transform Discovery Point and conserve the RRS Discovery for the next 100 years.

Who are Dundee Heritage Trust?
Dundee Heritage Trust was established in 1985 by a small dedicated group of local people concerned that if action wasn’t taken, aspects of our city’s heritage would be lost forever.
As Dundee reeled from the loss of its industries, the Trust set out a hopeful vision to return the Royal Research Ship Discovery to its home city for the benefit of the public.
In 1986, the return of the ship sparked a cultural renaissance in Dundee, and by 1996 the Trust had established not one but two museums sharing the city’s story.
Today, our museums may have changed, but our mission remains: to protect and share Dundee’s unique local and global heritage for the benefit of current and future generations.
